SECOND SATURDAY IN STATION NORTH

Free Events at Eight Venues within the Arts & Entertainment District

Station North Arts & Entertainment, Inc. continues a series of monthly events on Saturday, September 11th.  “Second Saturdays in Station North” will showcase the variety of entertainment venues and offerings in this thriving arts district.  The series aims to heighten awareness, interaction, and appreciation among Baltimore’s thriving art and music communities and promote the district as a cultural destination.

 

Eight venues – all within 2 blocks of Charles Street and North Avenue – will feature free events throughout the evening to encourage people to venue-hop and experience the diversity and creativity of the Station North Arts & Entertainment District.  Events include Art Exhibitions, a Staged Reading, Film Screenings, Comedy Acts, a hands-on Art Project, Live Music Performances, and more.

 

The various free events that will be offered by the eight venues in the district on Saturday, September 11th include:

 

Metro Gallery, 1700 N. Charles Street

6pm – 11pm – Art Exhibition: “Readsboro” paintings by Regina Tumasella

 

9pm – 11pm – Music by DJ J-No

  

Station North Arts Café, 1816 N. Charles Street

7pm – 9pm – Station North Live: “Laugh Your Ass Off Comedy Night”

 

Strand Theater, 1823 N. Charles Street  

8pm – “Back-to-School Open Mic Night” for performances of dance, music, poetry, and dramatic works.

Featuring students from the local universities, part of the Strand’s mission has always been to showcase strong, new talent and to support the growth of new artists.  Come join us for a night of pure creativity and youthful energy.  Complimentary pizza from Joe Squared!

 

The Hexagon Space, 1825 N. Charles Street

6pm – 8pm – Opening Reception: “Members Show,” new work by Hexagon volunteers.

An exciting amalgamation of work in various styles and media; a veritable buffet for the eyes, showcasing the range of ideas and creative minds involved with the Hexagon space.  Participating artists include: Joshua Becker, Shaina Craft, Andrew Geddes, Carlos Guillen, Phuong Pham, and Logan Terkelsen.

 

The Windup Space, 12 W. North Avenue

5pm – 8pm – Art Exhibition: “Double Dribble, An Art Opening” works by Andrew Liang

 

5pm – 8pm – Vinyl Happy Hour with JojoSouth

Bring your favorite records, have a drink, and share your music!

 

Westnorth Studio, 106 W. North Avenue

8pm – “Talkback Theater:” Featuring a series of short movies by regional film maker Pierre Bennu.

 

Single Carrot Theater at Load of Fun, 120 W. North Avenue

6pm – Contribute your talent to an Andy Warhol inspired mixed media art project on the sidewalk in front of Single Carrot Theater.

 

7:30pm – A Staged Reading of “Three Andys” by Rich Espey

 

Joe Squared, 133 W. North Avenue

11am – 2am – Art Exhibition: Works by Matt Muirhead

 

7pm – 9pm – Live Music by The Dave Janesh Trio [Jazz]

 

10pm – Live Music by 2econd N8ture [Roots – Rock - Soul]

 

The Second Saturday series will continue on October 9.  The series is funded in part by grants from the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund, PNC Bank and the Baltimore Community Foundation.
